Leon retired from Transnet in 2004 and thereafter worked as a freelance contract worker for various companies. During a period of unemployment and boredom he taught himself to build websites on the Joomla open source platform. On Facebook he joined a few Veteran pages. He started a Veterans website, mainly to store stories and pictures of the old Army days. Sometime during 2014 he noticed a Facebook advert of a Skouerskuur in Pretoria. He was introduced to the SA Infantry Association and decided to expand the website and provide a platform for the SAIA to promote their cause.

He called time on the work life during 2017 and now the boredom product keeps him busy.
